The Rolling Stones Live at Kansas City [14-12-1981] – Full Show
You’re probably thinking I’m a bit messed up in the head, uploading another Kansas City (The third on this channel), but no, all different ones!
And this upload my friend, is the most special and probably the most epic one so far; On december 14 ’81, Tattoo You tour, the Stones at their most successful tour so far, are joined by former Stone Mick Taylor!!!!! I truly had a great time listening to this show!
When it begins, only the current line-up is on stage; Under My Thumb, Neighbours, Black Limousine, etc; Jagger’s voice is sounding rough, since he developed a much more ”manly” voice in ’80/’81 and all the concerts in this tour he’s sounding like this, sloppy too, babbling some random lyrics, sounding very bad sometimes; Despite this he’s sounding very good during the whole show delivering great performances of Waiting On a Friend, Tumbling Dice, Miss You and Start Me Up
As for the joining of Mick T!!! He enters the stage before ‘Let Me Go’, and while he’s performing he’s sounding fucking good! You can hear his guitar loud and clear (Soundboard quality helps) and distinguish his guitar from Ron Wood’s (It’s not hard, Ron is using mainly a Stratocaster, with a very distint sound) and Keith’s Telecaster
Thanks to Taylor this show features, at least in my opinion, the greatest live version performed so far of You Can’t Always Get What You Want, Start Me Up and Waiting On a Friend, and one of the best of Jumpin’ Jack Flash!
Special mention to Bobby Keys’ sax, making the performances of Miss You and Beast of Burden much more interesting and epic! Bill Wyman’s bass guitar gets more listenable at the end of the show, delivering some groovy lines on Satisfaction and J.J. Flash
Ps. I just loved this show so much, musically speaking; The instrumental of this show sounds perfect as hell when Mick T. joins them, one of my favourite shows! Jagger’s ok, even though he’s still sounding very good, just as I mentioned before 🙂
*Reminder: Ron Wood later said that he didn’t like AT ALL Mick T.’s appearence: ”[He was] bulldozing through parts of songs that should have been subtle, ignoring breaks and taking uninvited solos.” Poor Ron hahahaha
Under My Thumb; 3:41 When the Whip Comes Down; 9:04 Let’s Spend the Night Together; 13:21 Shattered; 18:13 Neighbours; 22:20 Black Limousine; 26:05 Just My Imagination; 34:36 Twenty Flight Rock; 36:29 Going to a Go-Go; (Mick T. joins in) 40:07 Let Me Go; 44:46 Time is On My Side; 48:38 Beast of Burden; 56:07 Waiting On a Friend; 1:01:47 Let It Bleed (Great version); 1:09:27 You Can’t Always Get What You Want (Perfect); 1:19:45 Little T & A; 1:24:50 Tumbling Dice. 1:30:03 She’s so Cold (The recording cuts out most of it); 1:32:33 Hang Fire; 1:35:56 Miss You; 1:43:23 Honky Tonk Women; 1:46:58 Brown Sugar; 1:51:03 Start Me Up; 1:55:39 Jumpin’ Jack Flash (Great version); 2:06:19 Satisfaction
